It has been known for some time that in the absence of human contact, for a period of time, an infant will develop easily recognizable signs of developmental stress. If left unaddressed these stress symptoms can become quite severe and may manifest in anti-social behavior, distrust of others and an inability to share.
Human contact is essential for the individual to develop a healthy and well-rounded personality.
While none of us has the individual authority to do away with the lockdown orders, we do have the ability to be more, or less aggressive in our returning to contact with others. Our program participants are especially vulnerable to feelings of isolation and separate-ness. That is why it is so important that ECHO be here for those who return as the pandemic eases and disappears.
