Congratulations to our Academy Fall Session Participants!

On December 17, 2019, we were thrilled to deliver certificates to 17 participants in the LIFE Program who successfully completed sessions in the ECHO Academy.

Pictured below are 5 participants who were excited to have earned certificates for Work Readiness I, a vocational skill-building class that met twice a week for 8 weeks. The students learned about the importance of attendance, punctuality, concentration, and a variety of other topics that will help them be successful when employed. The session culminated in a visit to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office where the participants put in practice the skills they learned. Students who successfully completed this session are now eligible to register for Work Readiness II.

Also during the fall session, 11 participants successfully completed a curriculum on Basic Hygiene. This class also met twice weekly to learn about and practice skills such as handwashing, body washing, tooth brushing, first aid, privacy, and manners. We recently heard from a family member who stated the class was having a positive impact on a participant’s involvement in brushing his teeth at home. We are pleased to be able to continuously offer structured training for our participants.

Our next Academy sessions will start in January, and we will again be offering classes on various topics. The Academy uses curriculum-based training in over 200 focus areas—including life skills, vocational development, computer technology, and social skills—as  well as personalized training sessions designed by the ECHO staff.
