ECHO Tennis Classic Breaks Fundraising Record

The 23rdannual ECHO Tennis Classic raised a record $64,873.

The mixed doubles tennis tournament and fundraiser for ECHO (Every Citizen Has Opportunities) was held June 23 at Ida Lee Recreation Center in Leesburg. The event included 43 sponsors, including GEICO, Blossom & Bloom Thrift Store, Dulles Greenway, K2M, REHAU, Janelia Research Campus, and On the Banks.

Proceeds support ECHO’s mission to empower individuals with disabilities to achieve their optimal level of personal, social and economic success. The money will help ECHO buy new vehicles to transport their clients, establish the ECHO Training Academy to provide vocational skills to clients, and expand opportunities for community interaction for individuals with disabilities.

The 8.0 division, considered the top division, winners were Monica Rohrbach and Ben Hickman, 7.0 division winners were Andrea Hallett and Craig Jonesm and Lynn and Jay Colavita won the 6.5 division. Craig Jones won the You Got Served fastest serve contest for the men and Sheila Laszlo won for the women.
