A Chance for All of Us to do Good Together…
Traditionally, ECHO’s event calendar has included our highly anticipated outdoor events, our ECHO Tennis Tournament and the Tour de ECHO. Due to the current pandemic restrictions, we are not able to proceed as planned, so we are doubly grateful that we’ve been included in a truly unique fundraising idea: ECHO has been selected as one of the beneficiaries of the first ever “Run the Greenway” event, to be held on May 1, 2021, and we couldn’t be any more excited about the prospect of being part of a huge community building event. But in order for us to benefit, you need to register as an ECHO supporter. (It is particularly important that this event is a great success this year, since our opportunities for fundraising have been heavily curtailed by the Covid-19 pandemic.)
What is it?
On May 21, The Dulles Greenway will shut down one lane of the road and host a series of races (5K, 10K, 800 meter & Virtual). When you register to participate you can select ECHO as your non-profit of choice. You can participate in a variety of ways:
1) as a donor (without running),
2) as team leader (in which you can ask friends and family to support your run by donating or becoming part of your “team.”)
OR
3) as a sponsor
So if you’ve been meaning to involve yourself in your community, love to exercise, and want to make a difference in the lives of our ECHO participants, then this race is for you!
A Few MORE Compelling Reasons to Participate
Benefits a Great Cause
It is no secret that most charities host or participate in fundraising events because they generate significant revenue and are an opportunity to reach new potential donors. If you’re a follower of ECHO but haven’t had the opportunity to donate in the past, this is a wonderful opportunity to get reacquainted with ECHO and our mission and a very accessible way of making a financial contribution.
Spread The Word
Awareness and word of mouth are like oxygen for non-profit organizations and ECHO is no exception. Run The Greenway is a high profile event and a great opportunity for ECHO to get to know you, and for you to get to know US better. We hope that every person who participates in Run The Greenway who had previously not heard of ECHO will be inspired to become an advocate for individuals with disabilities. One person CAN make a difference; we need all the help we can get to spread the word.
Meet and Network with People Who Also Love their Community
If you are a business owner, provide some kind of service, or serve in your community at some level, networking at these events is a great way to meet people who want to make a difference in the community they call home, and perhaps can use your services as well.
Let’s make 2021 the year we jump in with both feet: become involved and invested in the community we live and work in and meet new people who could become lifelong friends. This is the perfect event to add to your calendar.
